The End of Ghosting Starts with 100% Applicant Engagement

About this video

Long response times remain one of the biggest drivers of candidate ghosting. Most applicants wait well over a week just to hear back, and even longer to land a first interview. A small fraction of the applicant pool gets any real attention, while everyone else is screened out through keyword matching that gives no real confidence about who the best candidates actually are.

A layer of predictive intelligence built from resume data can improve on plain keyword matching by inferring things like skill level, career trajectory, or tenure patterns based on where and when someone worked. But that still falls short of verifying what a candidate can actually do. Closing that gap requires direct conversation with every applicant, not just the handful who make it through a queue.

Autonomous conversations, delivered through chat, video, or phone, let organizations validate competencies and gather rich context at scale and in an equitable way. Candidates can share portfolios, explain their work, and answer role-specific questions immediately, often outside of business hours, rather than waiting for a recruiter's callback. Adoption data shows candidates engage in longer conversations with AI interviewers than expected, and a majority rate the experience positively, matching or exceeding satisfaction with human interviews.

Key points covered include:

  • Why slow time-to-contact and time-to-interview numbers are the root cause of ghosting complaints
  • How predictive and inference-based intelligence goes beyond resume keywords to size up a candidate
  • How chat, video, and voice-based AI interviews let every applicant get evaluated instead of just a small percentage
  • Why treating an AI vendor evaluation like a job interview, checking its training data, language capability, references, and use cases, produces better purchasing decisions
  • How AI conversations can surface forward-looking information, such as career goals and aspirations, not just past experience
  • What to demand from vendors on bias protection, including third-party audits, transparent scoring rationale, and no black-box decision-making

The larger point is that consistent, scaled conversation, not faster keyword filtering, is what actually closes the engagement gap and changes how candidates experience a company's hiring process.
