About this video

Sourcing work built on layoffs, reorgs, and market signals gets sharper when AI is treated as a research partner rather than a replacement. A capability stack for combining human judgment with AI tools moves from internal knowledge management up through market intelligence, sourcing insight, timing, and advisory credibility with stakeholders.

  • Knowledge libraries. Fragmented information scattered across email, OneDrive, and individual notebooks gets centralized into one queryable library covering hiring manager profiles, prompt best practices, competitive intelligence, product and business-function briefs, comp ranges, talent pool sizes, and SOPs. An AI agent attached to that library, built by aggregating links or full text into a spreadsheet and uploading it, lets any team member pull answers instantly instead of relying on one person's tribal knowledge.
  • Monthly market sweeps. A recurring query pulls headlines on layoffs, reorgs, and new builds within an industry, then asks AI to identify which functions and talent pools to target and why. The output points to specific job titles and functions worth pursuing, which can then be converted directly into Boolean search strings.
  • Human-led interpretation. AI drafts a sourcing brief or outreach message, but domain expertise and personality get layered back in before anything goes out, along with attention to regulatory and compliance considerations around AI use in recruiting.
  • Strategic, respectful timing. Outreach to candidates affected by layoffs or restructuring acknowledges the situation directly rather than ignoring it, naming the company news, showing empathy for the disruption, and connecting a specific role to the candidate's actual background rather than sending a generic pitch.
  • Advisory presence. Sourcers who bring market intelligence into stakeholder conversations move from simply supplying candidate names to being consulted earlier on workforce planning, before job descriptions are even written.

The overall shift is from AI as a shortcut for writing emails to AI as a partner for research, timing, and stakeholder credibility, with the sourcer still doing the work of judgment, empathy, and subject-matter expertise.
